It is an old-fashioned film in which Brat Pitt and Marion Cotillard aren’t convincing as a couple – although she tries harder than he does – and there’s such a total absence of chemistry between them. I think Robert Zemeckis’ movie is nearly undone by an uncharismatic performance by Brad Pitt. Despite all the plot holes, and the problem that the run time feels a little bit too long, this is an entertaining, highly romantic film and also you can watch it as a dramatic spy thriller, even if there are many funny moments in a movie that wants to be taken seriously. Not as good as it could, or should, have been, but still an entertaining WW2 film.
