Independence Day: Resurgence (2016)

by Niki Kefala

“Independence Day: Resurgence” it’s certainly not a great film, but it’s definitely an “Independence Day” sequel. For all its many flaws, that’s kind of fun and nostalgic. Because there’s so much going on, often the story line appears rushed. In trying to recapture the sheer entertainment value of the first movie, this sequel makers forgot that it was making a movie for modern audiences, and they kept all the terrible dialogues. The main thing consumers will be looking for from “Resurgence” is entertainment, and that it delivers successfully, but lacks the tension of the original. I don’t know why the film was worth making at all, except for the profit of course.

  1. They didn’t even approach Mae Whitman to reprise her role which she confirmed so I just don’t think I can get behind this nonsense. I mean it’s one thing to not approach Melissa McCarthy for Gilmore Girls on the assumption that she’s a busy superstar now, but they sure as hell weren’t going to recast Suki St James. I did kind of love the first movie, I love practically every movie I see though, but I’ll wait till this is running on television before I watch it, if at all.
