by Niki Kefala

The Metropolitan Museum of Art celebrated the 2016 Met Gala with the Costume Institute’s “Manus x Machina” exhibition and the best haute couture dresses with a… hint of science fiction feeling. First came the power ponytails, slicked tight on top of the heads of Selena Gomez and Elle Fanning, which kept the focus on their fresh faces. Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Alicia Vikander served up theirs with a twist, Hadid with a deep side part and blunt ends, Vikander with two tiny French twists that suited her architectural Louis Vuitton dress. How to make a ponytail

Take a thin piece of hair, wrap it around both ponytails and secure with a bobby-pin. Try a teased and braided ponytail. Separate the top quarter of your hair and tease the underside. Flip it over and gently smooth the top; gather this into a ponytail at the back of your head and secure with a hair elastic.
